Add a Facebook Feed to Wordpress

This extra credit activity is worth 2 points.

It is due any time during the term.

1. Locate the Smart Women Role Models Facebook Page.

  1. Login to your existing Facebook page and navigate to the Smart Women Role Models page. This page aggregates news from many sources which generally focus on women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics (STEAM) fields as well as diversity, equity, Title IX, and other related feminist areas.
  2. Copy the URL of the page.

2. Add the Feed to your Blog site.

  1. In the Dashboard, click the Themes Customizer button.
  2. Click the Widget button.
  3. Click the Sidebar button.
  4. Click the +Add a Widget button.
  5. Scroll to locate the Facebook Page Plugin widget.
    • Title the widget 'Smart Women Role Models'.
    • Paste in the URL from Facebook.
    • Change the height to 400px or more.
    • Check the Show Stream box.
      Fill in the Facebook Widget Fields.
    • Scroll around the live view to see how it looks.
      The Facebook feed should look like this when done.
    • Choose other options if you prefer.
    • Click the Save and Publish button.

3. Blog about it.

In a new Blog Post, write a short description of what you did to get the feed into your website. Be specific about how you accomplished the task (don't mention the instructor's instructions, mention your method). Talk about whether you think it'll help you find current popular articles for the weekly discussions. Did you learn anything about gender issues from glancing at the headlines?

4. Submit it.

Copy the address of the blog post (live; not your editing screen) and paste it into the Modules→Chapter 2→Extra Credit area.
